That there is a corner resize widget on a Finder window in Mac OS X Panther (10.3.x). It fits seamlessly into OSX's then-current brushed aluminum appearance. The window border is good and thick, and visually also stands out by the very pleasant soft drop shadow underneath the window.

Here is the bottom-right corner of a Finder window in macOS Sequoia (15.x). It is bland. White. The drop shadow is not nearly as dark. The window has no visible border at all. The corner widget has gone - even though Finder windows have bottom status-bars on them by default as it is, and there is no realistic reason for them to have gotten rid of the widget.

One small but extremely annoying effect of Tech Modernization or w/e is how UI contrast is garbage anymore, especially just, like, application windows in general.

I tried to move a system window around yesterday and had to click 3 times before I got the half of the upper bar that let me drag it. Why are there two separate bars with absolutely nothing to visually differentiate them on that.

A grande esperança missionária

A grande esperança missionária é que, quando o evangelho é pregado no poder do Espírito Santo, o próprio Deus faz o que o homem não pode fazer: ele cria a fé que salva. O chamado de Deus faz o que o chamado do homem não pode. Ele ressuscita os mortos. Ele cria vida espiritual. É como o chamado de Jesus a Lázaro no sepulcro: “Vem para fora!” (João 11.43).

Podemos despertar alguém do sono com o nosso chamado, mas o chamado de Deus chama à existência as coisas que não existem (Romanos 4.17). O chamado de Deus é irresistível no sentido de que pode vencer toda resistência. Tal chamado é infalivelmente eficaz segundo o propósito de Deus, de tal modo que Paulo pode dizer: “Aos que chamou, a esses também justificou” (Romanos 8.30).

Em outras palavras, o chamado de Deus é tão eficaz que infalivelmente cria a fé pela qual uma pessoa é justificada. Todos aqueles que são chamados são justificados. Mas ninguém é justificado sem fé (Romanos 5.1). Portanto, o chamado de Deus não pode falhar em seu efeito designado. Esse chamado irresistivelmente garante a fé que justifica.

Isso é o que o homem não pode fazer. É impossível. Somente Deus pode remover o coração de pedra (Ezequiel 36.26). Somente Deus pode atrair pessoas ao Filho (João 6.44, 65). Somente Deus pode abrir o coração para que atenda ao evangelho (Atos 16.14). Somente o Bom Pastor conhece as suas ovelhas pelo nome.

Graça, Paz e Alegria!

Para terminar essa parte sobre Daniel, vamos voltar ao começo do livro: Toda pressão e toda opressão do Exílio estavam presentes. Não se podia simplesmente ir contra, mas era necessário "testar" limites! Muitas vezes, apenas aceitamos o que nos é imposto com a "desculpa" que "recebemos ordens", mas nem tudo deve ser obedecido cegamente. Se houver pontos inegociáveis, não podemos abrir mão! E devemos, sim, testar os "limites" das ordens, para que não estejamos obedecendo e fazendo coisas completamente erradas. Mesmo que seja para sofrer punição por "testar esses limites". O Senhor estará conosco se buscarmos Sua vontade!

O primeiro "teste" de limites foi no que comer e beber. Daniel e seus amigos não queriam nem vinho nem das iguarias que estavam na mesa do rei. Queriam uma dieta diferente. Talvez aqui entre um aspecto da Lei: havia alguns tipos de carne que o judeu não podia comer, mas isso poderia estar "misturado" na mesa do rei com o que eles poderiam comer. Não se trata, necessariamente, como tentam interpretar alguns, de uma opção por ser vegetariano ou vegano, mas apenas uma preocupação de, no meio do que podia, comer o que não podia de acordo com a Lei!

Para evitar algo misturado no meio, eles preferiram abrir mão completamente das carnes! Isso não quer dizer que se eles pudessem controlar que carnes comer, seguiriam comendo apenas legumes. Ou nem mesmo a Páscoa eles iriam comemorar, já que tinha o cordeiro! E na parte das visões, Daniel cita que por um tempo deixou de comer carne naqueles dias, o que quer dizer que ele comia (Daniel 10.3).

O Senhor permitiu que o pedido fosse atendido e mais: a saúde não foi abalada, antes estavam até melhor que aqueles que comiam do que vinha da mesa do rei!
